Project Description Heading link
YRC Freight, also now known as YRC Worldwide, is a less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation industry. Less-than-truckload is used to transport smaller sections of freight that do not fill an entire truck. Many other transportation companies do not do LTL transportation because it is much more difficult to make a profit that way. YRC breaks up their locations into two different entities. They have distribution centers (DC) and end-of-the-lines (EOL). DCs are much bigger than EOLs and move a higher volume of shipments. DCs are usually located right outside of major cities, while EOLs are located in suburbs and rural areas. Each DC and EOL has a certain amount of equipment. YRC is looking to expand their locations. They want to see if a program can be created to see the maximum amount of equipment at a new DC or EOL. The team, with the data provided, will analyze the amount of equipment and deliveries to optimize the amount of equipment a new DC or EOL.
