People use many products in their day-to-day life, from food and drinks to their favorite thing on Amazon. All these items come in a variety of packaging, which could use plastic, aluminum, paper, cardboard, etc. Most of these items go into the garbage, even though some of them are recyclable. For example, every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollutants find their way into our oceans. One reason for this is garbage separation and classification. In the USA, there are at most three bins provided to the user and generally no standard for which items go in what bin. Users are confused and this leads to inaccurate sorting or users defaulting to the landfill. Our team is trying to narrow that window and provide help to the user with the garbage sorting process. Therefore, we have developed an innovative and smart solution called the garbage classification module to help improve the overall recycling percentage and help the user of the bin identify the correct category for the garbage. This will drastically improve the accuracy of recyclable products. This is a better solution for communities and the environment.
