Project Description Heading link

We wanted to design a scoreboard for the modern consumer. Someone who’s on the go at a moment’s notice, tech savvy and looking to do more with their personal/wearable electronics. By leveraging current trends in technology like Bluetooth and solar power, we are able to update current technology to meet the demands of today’s consumer. Creating a scoreboard that connects to an application will appeal to consumers that play sports often in a non professional setting. With the scoreboard’s companion iOS application, users are given the option of using a preset display for specific sports. Or, they can even create their own unique layout using basic “drag-and-drop” functionality. The design of the application is simple enough such that even the most inexperienced users can learn how to use it in less than an hour. The working prototype should allow users to control the score with their personal device from a distance of greater than 50 feet, which will be stress tested to determine the maximum limitations for reliable data transfer. The battery should be rechargeable via both AC outlets and solar power, which will also be tested and rated for average charge times and average discharge times. Lastly, the preset scoring models for tennis and volleyball should be available for the user to select and use without additional setup. The tests for this component require unit testing for each sport or game who’s custom scoring model will be built into the application.
