For the typical homeowner, finding an easy way to declutter one’s lawn of oak nuts can be a harrowing task. There are a multitude of mechanisms and devices that can be used for such a task, but none do so with great efficiency. Most current devices require some form of strenuous manual labor and only offer a small range of operation that makes the process very time consuming. Alternatively, there exists large reapers that would be at home on a tree nut plantation but would be far from practical for a single family home. The primary goal of this device is to mechanically assist average homeowners with collection of oak nuts that have fallen on their property. Ultimately, this device was designed with said goal in mind, and all design decisions were made with regard to the optimization of key characteristics surrounding said goal. Furthermore, all specifications were designed in order to adhere to given customer constraints. The preliminary leading design will be mechanically-assisted sweeping device that will store collected nuts on device, and be able to expand into an autonomous device.
