Project Description Heading link

Tasked with incorporating semi automatic pallet wrappers into the current staging process at the Franklin Park facility, Albertsons Team Won redesigned the layout of the staging area and created a new loading process. Team Won conducted time studies of the wrapping procedure and mapped the flow of pallets throughout the warehouse. After analyzing the current flow process, Team Won determined that it would be best to have truck loaders operate the semi automatic pallet wrappers and not the order selectors who wrap the pallets manually with the old process. The biggest obstacle faced in this project was the limited amount of space available for staging pallets. Most of the staging area is used as storage so redesigning the process to eliminate significant amounts of storage is not feasible. After going through several designs and getting feedback from managers, loaders, and engineers onsite Team Won created two designs for implementing the semi automatic pallet wrappers. The phase one design places a designated wrapping area between each dock door and allows the wrapper to be used as a tool. The company would then transition to phase two after the loaders become more acclimated with the equipment where the staging area is on a grid system. The grid system would allow two loaders to operate two pallet wrappers at once to cover the output for six dock doors.
