The main function of our system is to take in various items and display information about the items. In this device, we have a bin that receives input. So how does the bin work? The bin uses an ultrasonic sensor to detect if an item is placed on top of it or not. If the bin detects an item, we intend to use a led pin as an output device. The led pin turns on if there is an item placed in the bin, else it stays off. Our first idea was to use a load cell (weight sensor), however, we wanted to create a modification from the original project we found. Thus, we thought of using multiple ultrasonic sensors on each side of the bin to detect if an item is in the bin. After the bin does its job, it sends a signal to the Labeler by using a serial connection. The labeler controls what should be stored inside the bin. The labeler has buttons to control an LCD display. Finally, the labeler sends a connection to the receiver through an RF transmitter and receiver circuit. The receiver has a button and an LCD display. The button turns on the LCD display, and the LCD displays information about the item placed in the bin.
