CS.25 – Discord Tamagotchi

A Tamagotchi is a handheld digital pet that you must maintain by feeding it, cleaning it, and playing with it. Our project maintains this idea, but integrates Discord in a way that allows the Tamagotchi and the player to communicate back and forth (Example: The device would ping the user when it is hungry). The device will communicate with Discord’s API through the internet in order to send messages and updates to its user. Our tamagotchi system will feature three subsystems which will communicate among one another via serial communication between all three arduinos Uno’s. Our first subsystem will handle all integration with discord as described above and serve as the main relay point for information being passed in and out. An LCD screen will be used as output for the first subsystem to display important information regarding what’s being sent in and out. The second subsystem will feature an array of different color led’s to allow the user to physically see the status of their pet, such as their hunger and mood. Lastly, our final subsystem will serve as a visual aid and feature a MAX7129 LED matrix which will allow the user to personalize the way their pet looks via a joystick, in addition the led matrix will display other relevant information pertaining to the pet.
