Project Description Heading link

A sizeable portion of the United States population suffers from insufficient sleep. Sleep deficiencies have several consequences including fatigue, heart disease, depression, and more (nhlbi.nih.gov). These consequences further harm our society with an economic loss of 411 billion dollars each year, and 6,000 fatal car crashes (sleepfoundation.org). Sleep research has discovered numerous ways to improve sleep including cooler room temperatures and the use of binaural beats. The Binaural Beats Fan aims to convert the findings of sleep research into a useful device that will aid sleep and likewise lessen the negative consequences of sleep deficiency. The Binaural Beats Fan will accomplish this using two fans (one of them remote from the central body of the device) to dynamically cool room temperatures to those optimal for sleep, and a music player to play binaural beats that will facilitate a relaxing transition to restful and fulfilling sleep. This device will deliver on all of these features with the added context of providing users with the freedom to select from numerous customizations and configurations ensuring that the user experience is tailored to user preference. With such, the Binaural Beats Fan aims to provide better health and prosperity despite differences in innate ability to sleep.
