Project Description Heading link

The Granny Pack is aimed to help senior citizens and to promote road safety amongst the elderly. Using accurate distance measuring as well as iris sensors, to notify the user of various obstacles on a normal road. The iris sensor is meant to keep track of objects close to the user which would be a senior citizen and notify the user via an LCD display. The implementation of the heartbeat sensor would keep a close track of the user’s heartbeat which would be ideal to help the elderly especially adults who are at a close risk of heart conditions. Connecting all the devices together would be through a crossbody which can be a wearable so they can have it on them at all times. All devices (Arduinos) are required to communicate with each other which can be established via serial connection. The use of sound can also be implemented with respect to the elderly who might have issues with eyesight. An alarm is triggered in the device when pedestrians are in close range which is another way to notify the user. Along with LED’s, LCD’s which display alarms and statistics as well for external devices. Having the data retrieved from the heartbeat sensor, the iris sensor and the distance measuring, can then have a central display which is primarily going to be the LCD as well as the alarm.
