Project Description Heading link

Bubble Health aims to create a personal robot companion intended to assist seniors living alone throughout their daily lives as well as monitoring their health, safety, and overall well being. To do this, the robot companion will require specific cameras and sensors to monitor its surroundings and keep track of various data from both the user and the surrounding environment. The purpose of this project is to design and test the holding mechanism that will contain these cameras and sensors, propose a method of production, and research the parts used in order to ensure optimal and proper use. One important goal that our sponsor had for us was to make it look cuddly and kind as the compartment is essentially the robot’s face, with the cameras serving as its eyes. The first iteration accomplished this, but after deciding to make the model with standards of injection molding we had to make some modifications. The second one worked very well for injection molding, but lost its huggable features. Our final design incorporates the best elements of both; it’s friendly, but practical.
