Project Description Heading link
The upright plays a pivotal role in the formula race car, serving as the integral link that binds the suspension system and wheels together. This project involves working with the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) team at the University of Illinois at Chicago in developing new designs for the uprights of a formula race car. FSAE is a student-run automotive engineering organization dedicated to designing and manufacturing formula-style race cars annually for competition. The primary objective of this project is to engineer a lighter and stronger upright capable of supporting an upgraded suspension system. The project will discuss the evolution of the current uprights system, analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of various designs. Additionally, it will propose potential improvements and elucidate how these enhancements could enhance the efficiency and overall performance of the formula car.
