Hard water is a problem for most humidifiers, it contains higher minerals like calcium and magnesium than soft water. Hard water can be problematic for humidifiers. Cold mist humidifiers emit minerals from the hard water into the environment, which is not good and can be a danger to those using the humidifier. While with warm mist humidifiers, these minerals may clog the system and lead to humidifier damage. The resin filtration system removes impurities from the water before it is vaporized. The main objective of this entire project sponsored by ACCO Brands is to design a filter that fully utilizes all the resin within the filter, increasing filter life and efficiency. While also not shortening the filter lifecycle. The possible solution to this problem is the creation of a greater turbulent flow, ensuring the water is forced to be in contact with all the resin. The potential redesign of the entire filter to ensure that it can contact all the resin.
