Water scarcity is an issue that affects many people across the world. This project seeks to aid in solving this problem with a solution that is affordable, portable and reliable. Harnessing water vapor from the atmosphere is a potential source of safe drinking water. The atmospheric water generators currently on the market are large and require grid electricity. This product will be compact and not need grid electricity. Condensation will be induced by cooling a metal to the atmosphere’s corresponding dewpoint temperature. The metal’s shape will be informed by experimental techniques to maximize water collection. The best shape will maximize surface area and take advantage of gravity. Temperature and humidity sensors will be used with a microcontroller to manipulate psychrometric principles and maximize condensation while minimizing electricity consumption. Resulting in the collection of safe drinking water from the air.
