Maintaining a productive and efficient environment is of the top priority for many companies. Due to this universal challenge, a local manufacturing company, Accurate Perforating, seeks to improve its perforating and rolling processes. Specifically, the company wishes to reduce the downtime of their post-perforating sheet leveling process. To solve this problem, Accurate Perforating was provided with a simulation that improves workflow and a sheet counter to track productivity. The process simulation software, FlexSim, was utilized to study the current layout as well as create new solutions that meet the company’s goals. Another goal was to improve the consistency of the workplace through more accurate counting of completed sheets. This data is then used in FlexSim to simulate the factory layout and perform any optimizations that were possible. By improving the productivity and effectiveness of Accurate Perforating’s manufacturing facility, these proposed solutions will improve customer satisfaction and allow Accurate Perforating to increase production capacity. By completing these two objectives, the company’s wishes to reduce the downtime of their post-perforating process will be fulfilled.
