This project centers around modifying a portable countertop ice making machine to accept different shaped cartridges, allowing for a variety of different shaped ice to be made. This opens up the possibility for spherical ice, football/sport themed ice, logo ice to be produced from a single machine. Customers can switch out cartridges as needed and possibly even have them be custom made for events. After a night of working, you can make a batch of spherical ice to put in your whiskey. Or imagine having football shape ice made for a Superbowl watching party! The possibilities are endless and our team is excited to showcase the progress we’ve made. The product design is heavily dependent on an existing ice maker that is improved in efficiency rate and used as consumer goods in numerous events across the globe. Through market research and consultation among journals, it is very well established that ice makers that create multiple shapes are more demanding in the consumer goods market. Over the course of the past year, the decisions that were made focused on the factors of creative design, time, adaptability, and marketability to create a final product that has unique features that make it stand out from its competition.
