Littelfuse Inc. is a Chicago based company and a market leader in the manufacturing of circuit protection equipment along with a wide range of products which serve the automotive, electrical, and industrial sectors. The company lays utmost importance on their global purchasing methods for supply chain excellence and has established a vendor evaluation model based on the supplier performance scorecards in quality, delivery, and new product introduction areas. This evaluation is important as it reduces supply chain costs, mitigates the chances of risk, and drives continuous improvement in supplier performance. However, the current execution of supplier scorecards is an inter-departmental coordinated process and involves excessive and inefficient use of E-mail and Microsoft Excel. Each department follows a country-specific variation of this process with no standardization resulting in low productivity, delayed submissions, and overall management issues. Hence, with an objective to streamline and globally standardize the process of scorecard generation, the team delivered a tech-solution in the form of a business intelligence dashboard using Microsoft Power BI to generate, review, and distribute the metrics related to supplier performance along with a new global procedure, standard work instructions, and a training module for all global agents.
