The Flexible Warehouse Model project was designed by the request of the company ABC. As a medical device company, during the CoVid-19 pandemic, the company faced a huge increase in demand for certain supplies. Even though the increase in demand didn’t include all supplies, ABC realized that a new warehouse was needed for enough storage for present and future supplies. The company requested the team to create a flexible warehouse model via Excel that would predict the future supply needs and the correlation between the storage in the new warehouse. The main goal of the company is to ensure that there is or should be enough storage in the warehouse with respect to the balance of the increasing and decreasing items on demand. In addition to the Excel sheet that predicts the future number of supplies, the team also created an optimized warehouse model via 3D modeling software to visualize the possible layout for the future predictions. With the confined dataset, the team designed the model for the specific items that are distributed from the warehouse. These items do not consist of the entire supplies of the company, however, with the given dataset, required assumptions were made that led to a functional warehouse model.
