About 81% of baseball and softball players don’t know their swing velocity or where on the bat the ball hits. A player’s swing velocity and bat-ball impact are important in understanding their level of performance which ultimately affects their self-improvement. The reason a large number of players don’t know their swing velocity is that current solutions lack accuracy and efficiency in acquiring this information. Additionally, there are no current means of measuring the location of the bat-ball impact. Our user needs an efficient and accurate approach in measuring their swing velocity and the bat-ball impact location to better understand their performance and areas of improvement. Our solution is to create a bat that will measure the swing velocity and the location of bat-ball impact for a player. The data collected will then be available for the player to access through our user interface. The system uses four force sensor resistors to detect where the ball hits the bat and an acceleration sensor to detect the swing velocity. Both of these sensor types are connected to an Arduino Uno which uses a BlueTooth piece to transfer and display the data to a website with a password-protected user login.
