The cost of healthcare has always been a barrier to accessing healthcare. Creating an easily accessible and affordable source of healthcare is what we’re striving to do. The robot we’re creating is called “SymptoSeek” and is a household device that provides healthcare for its users. Unlike other medical devices, we want our robot to function as a user-friendly healthcare provider that can speak with its users and offer them comprehensive feedback regarding their health. Through conversing with our robot, the user describes their symptoms and the robot can generate a diagnosis based on those symptoms. The diagnosis will be created based on a machine learning algorithm and a database of illnesses that we developed. The database is based on information collected from credible sources such as the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO). Through machine learning, we will maximize the accuracy of our algorithm by constantly testing the robot with illnesses in our database and making sure the robot can create an accurate diagnosis. The robot will use a microphone and speaker interfaced with a RaspberryPI in order to collect and interpret information from the users. For accurate interpretation, our group uses AI from Microsoft Azure to perform natural language processing, facilitating conversation between the user and our robot. By collecting the data from the users, the robot can send the data to your medical provider, such as your primary physician, and create a personalized health profile. Our robot will help alleviate the cost of healthcare and make the healthcare system more efficient
