According to a recent survey by the American Health Care Association 87% of nursing home providers are facing moderate to severe staffing shortages. Due to this shortage, 6 out of 10 nursing home facilities are now facing a limit on new patients. This scarcity in personnel amplifies the urgent need for innovative solutions to address the burgeoning healthcare demands of an aging population. Advancements in wearable technology offer promising solutions for monitoring the health trends of senior citizens, particularly in the context of an aging population and increasing healthcare demands. With the prevalence of chronic diseases and age-related conditions, wearable devices provide a non-intrusive and convenient means of continuously tracking vital signs and health parameters. These devices can monitor various metrics such as heart rate, oxygen levels, activity levels, and even detect falls or irregularities in gait. By collecting real-time data, wearable technology enables early detection of health issues, facilitates preventive care, and enhances overall well-being among the elderly population. Our goal was to provide an accessible and inexpensive means for patients and care providers to monitor their vitals in such a manner. Our device is aimed specifically towards nursing home residents. It is a low energy, wearable device that monitors heart rate and temperature at 95% accuracy, and alerts caregivers of an emergency such as a fall. To that end, we have developed a web app to allow our device to communicate with and display the collected data. Moreover, the integration of our web app with services such as Google and Apple makes connecting as easy as signing in. Family and care providers will be able to keep track of their loved ones at any time and any place, ensuring peace of mind.
