Our project is to use multiple Arduino units to automatically dispense food into a pet’s bowl. A stock of food will be stored in a large container with an electronically controlled hatch at the bottom of the container to deposit a set amount of food into the bowl. An arduino will receive user input from a keypad to insert the time to dispense the food everyday. The arduino will be connected to a sound emitter so when food is deposited, it will emit a sound. The arduino will additionally be connected to a weight sensor to measure the amount of food in the storage. When the weight drops below a certain threshold, the arduino will connect to the WiFi and send a notification to the user’s phone, saying that the “Food is low.” The food dispenser is not a unique use of the arduino, but a weight sensor and the ability to send notifications when food is low gives the project a unique attribute.
