Project Description Heading link

This project is part of a competition organized by the Society for the Advancement of Material and Process Engineering (SAMPE) to design and build a fuselage made from composite material, in this case fiberglass. Team 37 from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) will design and develop multiple simulations for this competition. The design proposed in this investigation withholds 500 pounds of force as a point load on top of the fuselage and undergoes a three-point bending test. Furthermore, the fuselage must deform no more than an inch after the test, which is on par with the regulations established by the SAMPE organization. The investigation presents a final fiberglass composite model to draw conclusions on the most reliable design.
