In the past century, the world has seen massive growth in technology and manufacturing capabilities. While the ability to produce goods for consumers on a global scale is beneficial, the side effects of mass manufacturing have been harmful to the environment and human health. Air pollution has been increasing exponentially and there have been some efforts to create clean breathing solutions. For example, rapid industrialization in China has forced citizens to wear pollution masks daily to avoid high levels of air pollution. Although clean breathing solutions have been created, their effectiveness is questionable due to poor filtration or inhibiting the users breathing. Our team is working on a solution to this problem by developing a mask that will focus on ease of breathing and filtration. This will be accomplished through the use of fans for air intake and filter paper for filtration. The mask will consist of three 3D printed pieces. The middle piece will hold a single filter paper while the left side will house a blower fan along with another filter. The right cheek piece will house a 9-volt battery along with a power switch. The design will be made as lightweight as possible and the three pieces will be covered with fabric to increase comfort. This pollution mask aims to be suitable for exercise as there are no solutions on the market that solves the problem of minimizing restricted breathing while providing ample filtration.
