The testing process for wet wipes requires consistent, repetitive motion and precise control to evaluate solution residue. This motion is very difficult for a human operator, especially if the operator is expected to create samples for an entire work day. The group has modified an off-the-shelf 3D printer into a 4-axis gantry robot and tray system to produce these consistent, realistic samples. This system is significantly cheaper than other 4-axis gantry robotic systems, while maintaining consistent and realistic wipes. With this, researchers can greatly increase the pace of their research while maintaining quality.
