The foundation and sustainability of cities around the world relies on the work of civil engineers. Infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and buildings are of vital importance to the functionality of a modern society and improve the quality of life for the residents within those communities. Over time some components of these structures such as the deck, railing, substructure, and superstructure begin to deteriorate. This damage requires an evaluation performed by licensed engineers which will determine how the structure will be repaired. This decision is primarily based on the safety of the public but also includes a cost analysis to determine whether rehabilitation of the structure should be short-term or long-term.   One site in particular that is in need of rehabilitation is a three cell corrugated culvert bridge in the City of Aurora which passes over Indian Creek near the intersection of Farnsworth Ave and Indian Trail Rd. Surrounding the three cell corrugated culvert are commercial businesses and Simmons Middle School. Based on a bridge inspection report and site visits performed by Alfred & Benesch, it has been determined that the culvert bridge needs  concrete restoration. Given the fact that the bridge is carrying high traffic flow, we as a team cannot afford to take down the bridge and start over from scratch; the process would take too long. In addition, due to the creek under the culvert the team needs to come up with a solution to stop the water flow in order to let the concrete set. The team needs to focus on the types of concrete best suited for this repair, as well as following all proper Aurora regulations and specifications.
