Project Description Heading link

Many computer programs, such as CAD, require the use of a combination of keys to be used effectively. These combinations add mental burdens and inefficiencies that take away from the users’ experience. For example, while performing a simple rotation of the object, the user has to simultaneously press multiple keys as well as navigate the mouse in order to rotate the object. For users of this and similar software, our device streamlines the process of digital work. To meet this need, we have created an open source foot-pedal system that allows the user to gain more efficient control of their computer by mapping these key combinations to the movements of the device. Our design is modular and configurable by the user to meet their needs. This was achieved by using low cost and easily sourced components, open source software, and having the entire frame manufactured with 3D printing.
