Water is a basic yet very essential necessity of humankind and even to this date, people are not able to utilize the majority of the water available on the planet earth stored in the oceans due to a simple issue that it contains salt. However, this simple issue can be really challenging as many of the existing solutions are highly energy intensive but more importantly, very toxic to the environment. In addition, many parts of land on the planet are not being used mainly because of a shortage of drinking water that creates water stress in the other parts. New generation innovations can easily resolve these issues and help to convert unused land such as remote islands into habitable ones. Here, two valorous methods of desalination are merged together along with a traditional evaporation technique, and this new hybrid process can produce drinking water in any part of the world without requiring a tremendous number of resources. The suggested process contains a proton-exchange membrane fuel cell along with ion-exchange filtration so, it can run without any external utilities requirement as it generates all the electricity and heat itself which makes it a self-sustaining and environment-friendly alternative for traditional desalination processes.
